Another Update to the Random Album Chooser
Posted by Chris in Mp3, Music, Programming on 19 May, 2009
I’ve just updated version 2.1.0.2 of my Random Album Chooser. This has the following features:
- Fixed the problem with long filenames or too many tracks by creating m3u file for playlist
- Added Undo and Redo functionality to cycle through previously selected albums
- Added a context menu to the notify icon
I’m not charging for the software, but if you like it I’d appreciate a donation:
I can’t believe I didn’t think of creating an m3u file for the playlist before. Actually, I can’t claim credit for thinking of it now – someone else suggested it. It’s one of those “D’oh” moments when you realise that you’ve been so hung up on trying to fix the current algorithm you failed to take a step back and check to make sure you were using the best algorithm in the first place.
The playlist is created in the album folder and is given the same name as the album.
I’ve tested this with MediaMonkey, Winamp and Windows Media Player and they all accept the m3u file, so I’d expect other media players to work as well. If not let me know and I’ll install the player and see if I can see what’s going on.
Hopefully, this should be the last update for a while.
